Project Background

The Baise City Napo County 40.008MWp Distributed Photovoltaic Power Generation EPC Project is located in Delong Township, Napo County, Guangxi, and is a typical rural distributed PV project. The project encompasses full-scope EPC services including survey and design, equipment supply, construction, grid connection acceptance, and later-stage operation and maintenance. The PV AC Combiner Box, serving as key equipment for combining and protecting the output of string inverters, plays a core role in enhancing overall system reliability, simplifying structure, and ensuring operational safety.

Customer Pain Points

The large number of string inverters leads to dispersed outputs. Direct grid connection results in too many connection points, creating a complex system structure, higher costs, and management difficulties.

The system lacks centralized monitoring and protection mechanisms, making fault troubleshooting difficult and impacting power generation efficiency and maintenance response times.

Thunderstorms are common in rural areas; the AC side is susceptible to lightning overvoltage, threatening the safety of inverters and grid equipment.

During routine inspections or emergency power shutdowns, the lack of a local rapid disconnection device poses operational risks.

Proposed Solution

Utilize PV AC Combiner Boxes to combine the AC outputs of multiple string inverters, consolidating them into fewer grid connection points. This optimizes system structure and reduces cable and cabinet costs.

Configure input/output circuit breakers and AC surge protective devices (SPDs) to provide dual protection for both the inverters and the grid against overcurrent, short circuits, and lightning strikes.

Optionally equip with smart meters and monitoring modules to monitor parameters like current, voltage, and generation power in real-time, supporting remote operation and maintenance and fault early warning.

Provide a local mechanical disconnection point for safe isolation, ensuring the safety of maintenance personnel and complying with electrical safety regulations.

Customer Value

Simplified System Structure: Reduces the number of grid-connection cabinets and cable usage, lowering initial investment and installation complexity.

Enhanced System Reliability: Effectively protects against lightning strikes and electrical faults, extending the lifespan of key equipment like inverters.

Improved Operational Efficiency: Real-time data monitoring and fault location functions enable rapid response, reducing generation losses.

Safer Maintenance Operations: The combiner box serves as a physical disconnection point, ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment.
